Privacy Policy
T1dApp ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is operated by ROZ TECH LLC. This policy explains what information the App handles, where it goes, and the control you have over it.
In short: your health records stay on your phone. The only things that leave it are a meal photo when you ask for a food snap, a barcode number or product category (with your country) when you scan a packaged food, usage statistics (which include the type of diabetes you pick, but no readings, doses or other health values), a message if you send us feedback, and what Apple and RevenueCat need to manage a subscription. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
1. Health Records (Stored on Your Device)
What you log stays on your phone:
- Glucose readings: values, times and meal tags.
- Meals: names, photos, carbohydrates and the other nutrients from a food snap.
- Weight and goals, and your A1C estimate history.
- Medication and insulin logs, and reminder times.
- Glucose estimate inputs: the glucose value, insulin units, insulin timing and insulin ratios you enter to see a meal's estimated impact. These are used on your phone only and never sent anywhere.
Your records are stored in the App's private storage on your device, which iOS encrypts while your phone is locked. We have no copy of them and no account system; deleting the App deletes them.
2. Apple Health (Connected CGM & Meters)
If you turn on Apple Health sync, the App reads your blood glucose records from Apple Health, so readings from a Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre or connected meter appear without being typed in.
- Apple asks your permission first. You can withdraw it at any time in Health › Sharing › Apps.
- The App only reads blood glucose. It requests no other health type and writes nothing back.
- These readings never leave your device. They are not sent to us or any third party, and are never used for advertising or analytics.
- Turning sync off in Settings › Apple Health deletes every synced reading from the App.
- Apple Health readings can be delayed by up to three hours and are for review only. Never use them for a treatment or dosing decision.
3. AI Food Snaps (Optional)
Food snaps estimate the carbohydrates and nutrients in a meal from a photo. They only run when you ask for one.
- What is sent: the meal photo (resized), your app language, and the anonymous ID our purchase system (RevenueCat) assigns to your device. Nothing else: no name, email, glucose readings, insulin doses, medications or other health records.
- Where it goes: the photo travels over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to one AI provider to read: Google (Gemini), Alibaba Cloud (Qwen) or ByteDance Volcengine (Doubao). If one is unavailable, the next is tried. These providers may process the image outside your country, including in the United States, Singapore and China, under their own API terms.
- What we keep: we do not store your photo on our server. We keep a record that a snap happened (when, which provider answered, and whether it succeeded) to count your snap allowance and keep the service reliable.
- It is an estimate: results are approximate and shown as a range. Check them against food labels or weighed portions.
You can log every meal without food snaps; the rest of the App works the same either way.
Barcode scanning: when you scan a barcode on a packaged food, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), an open product database run by a non-profit, to look up the product's nutrition label. No photo, name, account or health data is sent, and the lookup does not go through our server or use a snap. The product photo it returns is saved on your device only. To suggest better alternatives and healthy picks, the app also searches Open Food Facts with a product category (for example "breakfast cereals") and your country, taken from your phone's region setting. No photo, name, account, health data or device identifier is sent, and these searches don't go through our server either.
4. Subscriptions & Purchases
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to confirm purchases and unlock Pro. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history; we never receive your payment details.
5. Usage Analytics
We use Mixpanel to understand how the App is used, so we can improve it: for example which screens are opened, which features are used, and how far people get through onboarding. Events are linked to a random ID created by the App, together with the app version, device type, operating system version and language.
- Analytics never include health values: no glucose readings, carb counts, insulin doses, weights or photos. The one exception is the type of diabetes you pick during onboarding (for example type 1, type 2 or prediabetes), which we record to understand who uses the App.
- We do not collect your name, email or advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
6. Feedback
If you answer the in-app feedback question or send us a message, we receive what you wrote, your answer (for example how the App is going for you), the type of diabetes you picked, the App version, your language, whether you have Pro, and the anonymous purchase ID. We use it only to reply and to improve the App. Email us to have it deleted.
7. Notifications & Live Activities
Reminders, the 2-hour meal check-in and its Live Activity are created on your device. Their content is not sent to us.
8. This Website
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits. It sets cookies and records an anonymised IP address. This applies to the website only, not the App.
9. Your Rights & Control
Under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to access, export and delete your data:
- Export: in the App, Settings › Export for your doctor (PDF and CSV) or Settings › Back up (a full backup file).
- Delete: Settings › Clear All Records permanently erases everything in the App. Deleting the App does the same.
- Server records: to delete the snap records and analytics linked to your device's anonymous ID, email us and we will remove them.
10. Medical Disclaimer
T1dApp is a self-tracking tool, not a medical device. It does not provide diagnoses, medical advice or treatment, and does not recommend insulin doses. Always consult your doctor or diabetes care team before changing your diet, medication or insulin.
11. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date.
